General Policy Statement
D Richards felt roofing Contractors is a family business run by Mr & Mrs Richards.
Mr Richards has worked in the roofing trade for over 40 years.  He began with an apprenticeship with Emerton Roofing, starting in 1975. After serving 7 years at the Shrewsbury branch it was closed and he was then transferred to the Nantwich branch. Mr Richards felt he wanted to offer a holistic service to his customers and developed a roofing firm from scratch with the ethos of value money for service whilst offering the highest quality of workmanship therefore he started his own business – D Richards Roofing.
Mrs Richards has managed the administrative side of the business for over 20 years whilst working part-time as a Practice Administrator/Medical Secretary at a local GP surgery. Their daughter also helps manage the administrative side of the business alongside her career in social care, offering an insight into the diversity of people they provide a service too.
In 1994 aged 16 Jason the youngest son joined the company to train as a flat roofing specialist.  Jason has extensive experience in the industry and developed the same vital qualities that Mr Richards prides himself with (empathy, honesty and hardworking) whilst supporting the companies’ value to offer a high quality service at an affordable rate.
Andrew Pullen, Mr Richards’s son-in-law commenced working for the company in August 2013 after spending over 20 years as a car mechanic. Andrew is developing a keen eye for detail and is enthusiastic to gain the knowledge and experience to help run the business with Jason when Mr Richards chooses to take less of a hands on role.
Andrew Pullen and Jason Roberts have both completed a course recommended by the Health & safety Executive Approved Code of Practice L143 ‘Work with Asbestos Containing materials’ and are deemed competent to undertake this task in line with all health and safety requirements.
In 2000 D Richards Felt Roofing became a Member of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, they also have the Government Endorsed Standards Trust Mark.
In 2011 Mr Richards and Jason Roberts completed a Cskill Award level 2 National Vocational Qualification in Applied Waterproof Membranes – Built Up Bituminous Roofing.
Aim:
The company’s aim is to provide a healthy and safe work place of work, safe equipment, and adequate levels of supervision and pride themselves on delivering the highest possible service. They endeavour to offer a holistic value for money service. 
Training:
Staff members have received comprehensive on the job training with many years of experience. Andrew Pullen is a qualified mechanic who has diversified into roofing and will commence his NVQ shortly.
The following courses have been undertaken. This is amended each year to comply with all health and safety regulations. The company also encourage staff members to request any additional training that they feel will benefit the job they do.

21 March 2012 - Jason Roberts obtained his Powered Access Licence for mobile elevating work platforms
27 March 2013 –David Richards and Jason Roberts renewed their Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
December 2014 – Jason Roberts and Andrew Pullen undertook an evening class on basic bricklaying – this was to enhance their pointing skills.
Mr Richards and Andrew Pullen are currently focusing on Andrews’s personal development and Mr Richards will be supporting him to obtain his NVQ and identify other training courses that will benefit his job role.
